Gohary rejects EFA position

CAIRO (GoPharoahs) - In an expected move, former Egypt national team coach Mahmoud El Gohary rejected a bid by the Egyptian Football Association to hire his services as a consultant for national team affairs.
Gohary, who managed to lead the national team to their two greatest achievements of the past decade and a half by qualifying to the 1990 World Cup in Italy and winning the African Cup of Nations in Burkina Faso in 1998, decided against taking up position in the EFA as a senior planner and consultant for the national team. The notorious Egyptian coach cited a contractual agreement to coach the Jordanian national team as the main barrier against returning to Egypt.
“I have a contract with the Jordanian national team, and I intend to honor it,” explained Gohary, who enjoys legendary and celebrity status in Jordan for his success in his role as coach to Jordan.
