CAIRO (GoPharaohs.com) - FIFA today said it postponed the World Cup qualifier between Sudan and Benin originally set for next weekend.
The match is now set for August 17. FIFA granted the postponement at the request of Benin, because it interfered with the team’s preparations for the ongoing FIFA World Youth Championship in the Netherlands.
The two teams are bottom of African zone Group 3, and are out of contention for a spot in next year’s World Cup finals in Germany. Sudan and Benin also look set to miss out on next February’s 2006 African Cup of Nations finals in Egypt.
