LONDON (GoPharaohs.com) - In a surprise move, English outfit Tottenham Hotspur have successfully bid for Internazionale winger Andy van der Meyde, reuniting him with former Ajax teammate and Egypt international Mido.

Sky Sports reports that the bid, made by Spurs chairman Daniel Levy, has been accepted. Inter’s Massimo Morati confirmed that the club was in talks with both Spurs and Everton with regards to offloading their Dutch midfielding tandem of Edgar Davids and van der Meyde.

Davids was signed by Spurs earlier in the week but the club reportedly held off on introducing the new acquisitoin on Thursday with the intention of holding a press conference for both Davids and van der Meyde on Friday or Saturday.

The midfield proved Tottenham’s major shortcoming a season ago but manager Martin Jol has been shrewed in rectifying his team’s chief weakness this offseason.

The move bolds well for Mido, whose biggest assets during his impressive run with Ajax Amsterdam were talented wingers Andy van der Meyde and Tunisian Hatem Trebelsi.

The 22-year-old striker has been on fire during the pre-season, helping Spurs to victory in the Peace Cup earlier this month, including wins over French champions Lyon and South American giants Boca Juniors.
