PARIS (GoPharaohs.com) - Cote d’Ivoire confirmed on Tuesday that it has cancled its August 16 friendly with Ghana’s Black Star in favor of a match against France the following day.

The French were originally slated to face Senegal on August 17, a day world football governing body FIFA set aside for international friendlies, but the Senegalese cancled because “the current state of the national team”, it says, would make it impossible.

The game will be played in Montpellier, which marks a change of venue as the French were set to host Senegal in Paris.

The Elephants are fairing better than their Senegalese counterparts in World Cup qualifying, and are set to qualify ahead of giants Cameroon and Egypt.
