Ismaily defeated, CA Bordj advances

CAIRO (GoPharaohs.com) - Algerian club CA Bordj defeated Ismaily 5-3 in penalty kicks after regulation time ended in a goalless draw. The match was the second between the two sides in the round of 16 of the Arab Champions League. The first leg match in Algeria had also ended in a goalless draw.

Penalty scorers for Ismailly were Hosny Abd-Rabo, Abdallah Al-Saeed and Youssef Gamal. Team captain Mohamed Hommos shot his penalty kick into the upright. Zoheir Khedhara scored the winning shot for CA Bordj. Abdelhak Mansour, Bachir Boudjelid, Laid Belhamel, substitute goalkeeper Nadjib Toubal also scored for the Algerian side.

CA Bordj moves on the to the quarter finals.

Since its inception in 1982 as the “Arab Club Champions Cup”, Egyptian clubs have won the championship twice (Al-Ahly in 1996 and Zamalek in 2003). WA Tlemcen was the only Algerian club to win the title in 1998.
