Zamalek advances in Arab Champions League

TRIPOLI (GoPharaohs.com) - Zamalek has pulled off what none of the other Egyptian clubs were able to do. The victory was not a landslide, however. Zamalek had defeated Libyan club Al-Ittihad 1-0 in Cairo in the first leg matchup (Amr Zaki scored for Zamalek) only to lose by the same score Tuesday night in Tripoli.
Reda Milad temporarily saved Al-Ittihad from elimination by scoring a last minute goal in the second half. The two teams went on to a penalty shootout to determine the victor. Zamalek scored 4 penalty kicks to Al-Ittihad’s 1. Zamalek’s goalkeeper Mohamed Abd El-Monsef saved 2 penalty kicks. Wael Al-Qabani, Junior, Osama Hassan and Youssef Hamdi scored for Zamalek.
Both Ismaily & Enppi lost to CA Bordj and Al-Faisaly, respectively in the round of 16. The teams that have made it so far to the quarter finals are Zamalek (Egypt), Al-Faisaly (Jordan), CA Bordj (Algeria), Al-Ahly (Saudi Arabia) and Al-Nasr (Saudi Arabia).
