Al-Ahly clobber Olympic 5-1

CAIRO (GoPharaohs.com) - In their last league game before heading off to the Club World Championship in Japan, Al-Ahly defeated their Alexandrian opponent Olympic by a large margin in their week 13 matchup. Al-Ahly, with two postponed matches to play, has temporarily taken the top spot in the Egyptian Premier League for the first time this season with 29 points. Ismaily, who were the leaders with 27, still have a game this Saturday against Haras Al-Hodood.

Al-Ahly started out ahead early on with a goal from a free kick by Emad Meteb in the second minute of play. Olympic quickly retaliated with a goal of their own in the 11th minute of play by Jackson. Olympic played a man down from the 32nd minute onward due to an ejection. Emad Meteb was tackled from behind and a penalty kick was called in against Olympic. Shady Mohamed scored Al-Ahly’s second goal from the penalty kick in the 33rd. Mohamed Shawky ended the first half with another goal following up on a save by Olympic’s keeper.

Osama Hosny went on to score in the 66th minute and Flavio topped it off with a goal in the 77th minute to end the match 5-1.

In other league week 13 matchups Ghazl El-Mahala tied with Petrojet 1-1 in Mahala, while Al-Masry tied with Talae Al-Geish 0-0 in Port Said.
