Al-Ahly move up the world club ranks
CAIRO (GoPharaohs.com) - Al-Ahly has moved up one position in the International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS) monthly ranking of world clubs. The new ranking puts Al-Ahly at 52nd, right behind Tottenham Hotspurs who are in 51st. Zamalek has been off the list of the top 350 clubs for the third month in a row.
The next African or Arab club in the ranking after Al-Ahly is Etoile Sportive du Sahel (Al-Najm Al-Sahili) of Tunisia in 82nd.
The top 5 clubs in the ranking from first to fifth are Sevilla FC (Spain) followed by three Italian clubs, Milan AC, AS Roma and FC Internazionale Milano, and Liverpool FC of England in fifth. Al-Ahly was the IFFHS ”club of the month” in June 2006.
