Former Ivory Coast head coach signs Zamalek deal

December 26, 2006

CAIRO (GoPharaohs.com) - Zamalek officials announced that the club has signed a 6 month contract with former Ivory Coast head coach, Frenchman Henry Michel. Michel will run the show with Mahmoud Saad at his side. In the announcement, Ahmed Ramzy, who was interim head coach, was thanked for his efforts in the short period of time in which he had taken charge of the team.

Zamalek let go of their previous head coach, Manuel Cajuda, primarly because of the poor results the team has been producing on the pitch lately, according to Zamalek officials. Their league game in which they lost to Al-Masry in Port Said was the straw that broke the camel’s back. It had been previously reported that Serbian coach Zoran Filipovic was appointed as head coach. Apparently, the final paperwork for the deal did not go through and the deal was dropped.
