Ismaily avoid preliminary Confed Cup action

ISMAILIA (GoPharaohs.com) - The result of African Confederations Cup drawing on Friday resulted in a bye for Ismaily for the preliminary round. The Daraweesh will have to wait for the round of 32 to see action. They will play 2 legs against the winner of the preliminary round matchup between the champions of Madagascar and the champions of Mauritius.

Ismaily almost didn’t make it into the official roster of Egypt’s teams. A few weeks back Ismaily officials contested the EFA’s decision to only include Enppi to represent Egypt in the Confed Cup. The EFA back-peddled on their decision and asked the CAF for the inclusion of Ismaily. Both Enppi and Ismaily are substituting for Al-Ahly & Zamalek, who were the first and second in the Egyptian league, respectively, but both clubs have other commitments next year.
