Mahmoud Saad to coach Zamalek temporarily
CAIRO (GoPharaohs.com) - Zamalek officials announced Thursday morning that Mahmoud Saad will be the interim head coach for the team. Saad’s position before this announcement was head of the youth division at Zamalek. Saad will be given all facilitations necessary to do his job. He will be allowed to choose a staff of his liking until a new foriegn head coach can be identified by Zamalek.
Zamalek recently fired their Portugese head coach Manual Cajuda after an embarrassing loss against Masry 2-0 in Port Said in the Egyptian Premier League. Zamalek has been plagued by administrative problems which have been reflecting upon their football team’s performances. The most recent of which was their loss against Qadeseya in Kuwait 2-1 on Wednesday in the Arab Champions League quarter final group A match.
On the local front, Zamalek are currently occupying the third position in the Egyptian Premier League standings with 26 points from 13 matches. They have an upcoming match against arch rivals Al-Ahly who have been an almost polar opposite to Zamalek performance-wise. Al-Ahly recently returned from Tokyo after claiming the bronze in the FIFA World Club Championship.
