Qadeseya pile on Zamalek misery
KUWAIT (GoPharaohs.com) - Qadeseya defeated Zamalek 2-1 in Kuwait and piled more misery onto the ailing Egyptian club. With this result, Zamalek hopes for advancing are dwindling. They remain in 3rd position in their group with only one point, while Qadeseya add three more points to their one and tie in 1st place with Algeria’s CA Bordj with 4 points each. CA Bordj remains on top with goal difference.
Zamalek started out strong. Amr Zaki scored very early for his team in the 10th minute from a powerful shot from the right side. The pace soon picked up after this early opening goal. Tarek El-Sayed missed a golden opportunity to put Zamalek up by a second goal when he found himself with only the goalkeeper to beat, but placed the ball too wide. Qadeseya then put in the equalizer at the very end of the first half to completely negate all of Zamalek’s efforts and put both teams back at square one.
Qadeseya answered Zamalek’s surprise first half early goal by one of their one in the second half. Mesaad Nada put the Kuwaiti side up 2-1 only 5 minutes into the second half. After the goal Zamalek pick up momentum but lack of accuracy and focus on the final touch prevented them from converting.
