Zamalek tie with CA Bordj in Cairo

December 11, 2006

CAIRO (GoPharaohs.com) - The final score of the first leg match of the quarter final of the Arab Champions League was a dissapointing blow to Egyptian club Zamalek and their fans. With their team playing at home against Algerian rivals CA Bordj, Zamalek fans were hoping for a victory. They got a 2-2 draw instead.

In a mediocre first half, Amr Zaki scored first for Zamalek from a penalty kick in the 31st minute ending the half 1-0 in Zamalek’s favor. A much faster-paced and exciting second half resulted in 3 goals. Bachir Boudjelid scored the equalizer for CA Bordj in the 83rd minute which was responded to swiftly by Gamal Hamza in the last minute of regulation time.

CA Bordj managed to slip in a final equalizer again through Bachir Boudjelid in the 4th minute of stoppage time shattering Zamalek’s hopes of an almost-sure win in Cairo in the very last minute of the game.
