Al-Ahly prepares for centennial celebrations

CAIRO (GoPharaohs.com) - This April marks the 100th year since the establishment of Egyptian club Al-Ahly. Club officials have stated that the celebrations will start in April and run through August. “The celebrations will be very extravagent, as they will be a reflection of the numerous achievements by this club over the past century [including African Club of the Century]”, says Ibrahim Al-Moallim, head of the celebrations committee.

Many celebrities are expected to participate including Nobel prize winner Ahmed Zowail as well as many celebrities from Egypt’s entertainment industry. The minister of media has also agreed to provide Al-Ahly with several historical documents for inclusion at the club’s museum.

A symbolic board meeting will be held on April 24th to mark the 100th year to the day since the first board meeting was held in 1907.
