January 25, 2007

ISMAILIA (GoPharaohs.com) - After months of negotiations, trials, ups and downs, Ahmed Fathy of Ismaily officially signed his contract with English club Sheffield United on Thursday. Fathy will play for Sheffield United for 3 years and his contract will expire at the end of 2010. The English club aquired Fathy for 700,000 Sterling, an equivalent of approximately 7.75 million Egyptian pounds.

Yehia El-Komy, president of the interim committee for Ismaily club’s administrative arm, confirmed the transfer after Ismaily received documentation permitting Fathy to play professional football in England.

Fathy is the third Egyptian player to play in the English Premiership. Ahmed Hossam “Mido” and Hossam Ghaly both play for the Spurs.
