Meteb leads Al-Ahly to victory over Suez Cement

SUEZ (GoPharaohs.com) - Emad Meteb scored both goals for Al-Ahly in their 2-0 victory against Suez Cement in their Egypian Premier League week 19 matchup. Al-Ahly continued to hold on strong to the league’s top position with 50 points. Al-Ahly star Mohamed Abu Treka was not playing due to injury.

Al-Ahly pressured Suez Cement from the get-go, but the disciplined Suez Cement withstood the Red’s onslaught and relied on counter-attacks. Al-Ahly’s offense could not penetrate their opponents defensive lines and the first half ended 0-0.

Al-Ahly continued to apply pressure in the second half with additional help from via Mohamed Shawky and Islam El-Shater. Emad Meteb broke the tie score in the 61st minute of the game through a free kick from outside of the box. Meteb’s goal encouraged the Reds to keep pushing for a second, which they got in the 75th minute from a penalty kick which Al-Ahly was awarded after Flavio was tripped in the penalty area. Meteb put it in to put the final scoreline at 2-0.
