Zambia clobber Egypt, smash World Cup hopes
KINSHASA (GoPharaohs.com) - Egypt’s youth team was dealt a severe blow today by their Zambian counterparts in their final group match of the Youth African Cup of Nations. Zambia defeated Egypt 3-0. With this result Zambia will advance along with Nigeria to the semi-finals. In addition both Zambia and Nigeria, being the top two in their group, now automatically qualify for the Youth World Cup in Canada.
Egypt has once again missed the opportunity to play on the World stage. The young Pharaohs were surprisingly submissive to the Zambian onslaught. Zambia scored two goals in the first half, the first in the 28th minute and the second from a penalty kick in the 42nd minute. They scored again in the 53rd minute to seal the deal well before the match ended.
Nigeria, who came into the third group match on top of the group, were defeated 2-0 by Cameroon and ended up in second place with 4 points behind Zambia who have 6. Egypt only needed a draw with Zambia to make it to the next round and to Canada.
