Al-Ahly defeat ESS, win African Super Cup

ADDIS ABABA (GoPharaohs.com) - Al-Ahly defeated African League champs ESS in penalty kicks in their Super Cup match in Addis Ababa on Sunday. This is Al-Ahly’s third Super Cup title, on par with rivals Zamalek who also have three Super Cup titles under their belt.

Both regulation and extra time ended in a 0-0 draw and the two champs had to resort to penalty kicks to determine the victor. Both sides did not play very well, partly due to the pitch conditions and partly due to the high altitude of the venue. Al-Hadary saved his team and Al-Ahly won 5-4.
