Al-Ahly’s Jose penalized, suspended 4 games

February 7, 2007

CAIRO (GoPharaohs.com) - The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) issued a punishment today for Al-Ahly’s head coach Manuel Jose after he went on a rampage in objection to a referee’s call during Al-Ahly’s game against Haras El-Hodoud. Jose took his jacket off and began to take his shirt off after an Ahly player was handed a booking. Jose said his players were being roughed-up by the opponent and nothing was being done about it.

The EFA suspended Jose for 4 games and handed him a 50,000LE penalty. The punishment is “exagerated and unfair” according to one Ahly official. Al-Ahly’s board will meet to discuss the EFA’s decision today.
