Ali strike puts Zamalek in ACL semis
ALGERIA (GoPharaohs.com) - Zamalek earned a well-deserved victory over Algerian rivals CA Bordj on Monday in their Arab Champions League group match. Abdel-Halim Ali scored for Zamalek in the 8th minute of the second half to put Zamalek up 1-0 over their hosts.
With this result, Zamalek remains at the top of their group with 10 points thus securing a spot in the semi-finals regardless of the outcome of their remaining match with Ahli Jeddah of Saudi Arabia who are in second place with 6 points.
Zamalek played with a well-balanced strategy and managed to come out of the first half 0-0. The White Tribe surprised their opponent with fierce offense at the start of the second half which resulted in Abdel-Halim Ali’s goal after which Zamalek returned to their balanced approach to the game.
The team is expected to return to Cairo on Tuesday.
