Zamalek defeat Vital’O, advance to ACL round of 32

BUJUMBURA (GoPharaohs.com) - Zamalek pulled off a fairly easy victory over their rivals Vital’O 1-0 in their second leg match of the African Champions League qualification round that took place in the captial city of Burundi, Bujumbura. Hazem Emam scored the only goal of the game in the 20th minute of the first half.

Henri Michel’s strategy was to pressure Vital’O and open up their defenses by focusing on the crosses from the wings. Ahmed Ghanem Sultan was especially active with several of his crosses connecting to Amr Zaki who was unable to convert. Vital’O, who were very mediocre, did not pose much of a threat to the Zamalek defense.

Zamalek had defeated the Burundi champions 4-1 in Cairo in their first leg matchup. The Egyptian champs move on to the round of 32 where they will play against Al-Hilal of Sudan.
