Al-Ahly sweeps three 2006 Glo-CAF awards

ACCRA (GoPharaohs.com) - Al-Ahly was awarded the title of best African football club for 2006 and their Portugese head coach Manuel Jose was named as best coach. Ahly star midfielder Mohamed Abu Treika, who is currently sidelined due to injury, won the inter-club player of the year award.
The titles are awarded by Africa’s football governing body, the Confederation Africaine de Football (CAF) as part of the annual Glo-CAF awards. Didier Drogba of Ivory coast inched past Samuel Eto’o of Cameroon by only 5 votes to win the African player of the year.
