Ismaily advance to CAF Cup round of 16

April 21, 2007

LUSAKA (GoPharaohs.com) - Ismaily drew with their Zambian hosts Green Buffaloes 1-1 in their second-leg match of the round of 32 of the African Confederations Cup and advance to the round of 16.

Ismaily fielded a starting lineup consisting of: Mohamed Fathy (GK), Hany Saeed, Moatasim Salim, Sherif Abdel-Fadil, Hosney Abd Rabbo, Sayed Moawad, Omar Gamal, Mohamed Mohsen Abu Greisha, Abdallah El-Shahhat, Mohamed Hommos.

Ismaily played with an offensive strategy throughout the game and managed to keep their hosts at bay. Green Buffaloes managed to score from the only opportunity they had on Mohamed Fathy’s goal only two minutes before the first half ended, thus ending the half in a misrepresentative result of 1-0 for the Zambian champs.

In the second half Ismaily continued to vigorously persue the equalizer which was scored by Mohamed Mohsen Abu Greisha, who had been threating to leave Ismaily because of being benched so often by Philip Neveu. Even after the equalizer, Ismaily continued to push forward.

Ismaily was worried going into the match that they were missing 10 players they had usually relied on, but Ismaily’s bench proved to be worthy of the challenge.
