Ismaily upset hosts Wedad 1-0

CASABLANCA (GoPharaohs.com) - Ismaily upset their Moroccan hosts Al-Wedad at Casablanca in their first leg match of the African Confederations Cup round of 16. Omar Gamal scored the only goal of the match in the 11th minute of the first half.

Al-Wedad played with an expected offensive strategy, while Ismaily played a balance between tight defense and pressure on their opponents midfield to spoil attacks from their root. Ismaily also relied on their wings to pose danger on Al-Wedad’s goal, which resulted in the goal by Omar Gamal in the 11th minute.

Al-Wedad increased the offensive intensity in the second half to try to even out the scoreline but to no avail. Ismaily maintained their defensive composure and managed to finish the match without conceding any goals.

This result gives Ismaily a much-needed boost towards the championship’s quarter-final round. They will host Al-Wedad on the 20th of May at Ismailia.
